New Instruments For NCCAT

September 2018 - In September, NYSBC placed orders for three new Krios G3i-Cryo transmission electron microscopes.  These microscopes will be part of the new National Center for CryoEM Access and Training, which was funded by the NIH Common Fund Transformative High Resolution Cryo-Electron Microscopy program.  A new building to house the new instruments is currently being constructed.  We expect delivery of the three new microscopes in August, October and December of 2019.

New Construction Underway

September 2018 - We have started construction of a new 5000SQF space that will be the new home of National Center for CryoEM Access and Cross-Training which was funded by the NIH Common Fund Transformative High Resolution Cryo-Electron Microscopy program. The new space will house 3 new Krios transmission electron microscopes (TEM), several screening TEMs, specimen preparation and other ancillary equipment, and space for staff and visitors to NCCAT. Accepting User Proposals to the National Center for CryoEM Access and Training (NCCAT)

August 2018 - The National Center for CryoEM Access and Training (NCCAT) is a new cryoEM service center funded by the NIH Common Fund. Located at the Simons Electron Microscopy Center (semc.nysbc.org), which is a part of the New York Structural Biology Center (nysbc.org) in New York City, the mission of NCCAT is twofold: to provide nationwide access to advanced cryoEM technical capabilities, and to assist users in the development of cryoEM skills needed for independent research. Major Federal Grant Boosts Life Sciences in New York

New York, NY, May 15, 2018 (Newswire.com) - ​​​​The National Institutes of Health Common Fund announced today major funding for three new national centers for cryo-electron microscopy (cryoEM).  The New York Structural Biology Center (NYSBC), a consortium of nine of New York’s preeminent research institutions1, will receive one of those grants (U24 GM-129539) in the amount of $42 million. NYSBC will expand its current facility located on the CCNY campus to house the new national center.
